New Semester, New Challenge!
Today is the first day of my second semester. We (the SEAMOLEC students) have an early start, because the other students will have their first day next Monday. Actually, I feel a little bit jealous since I still have lots of movies to watch in my DVD collection :p
Anyway, when I was on my way to the campus this morning, I couldn't wait to see my classmates because it's been a while since I last saw them. When I arrived, I peeked into each class to see whether my classmates were already there. Negative. So I went to ask where we would have our first class. I was so surprised to see that the only person there was the lecturer who appeared to be so young. When he introduced himself, I found out that my guess was correct. He's 1 year younger than me! (if you want to know his age, figure it out yourself coz I won't mention my age here :p)
The name of the subject was scary: Engine for Online Game. I like being online. I like playing games. But I really don't like dealing with engine T.T So, I was very pessimistic. I didn't think I would be able to master this subject. 2 hours went by, and I could barely understand the theory. Maybe it was because I hadn't had my breakfast so all I could think of was food :p
In class, the lecturer introduced us to MGATOT (Mobile Game Tutorial for Teenager). Teenager here doesn't mean literally teenager, but more to a beginner in the IT world. He explained why it would be very helpful for beginners to use MGATOT in making games. We also learned the definitions of some terms such as interface, class, method, splash screen, object and the reason why they are important.
The lecturer was really well-prepared. I couldn't help but be amazed by the high-tech gadget that he had. (he could write on his laptop screen, which is what I have been dreaming of :p) I ought to have it someday :)
Things were a little bit clearer after the lunch break. Although I still might not clearly understand how things are really working, but at least now I can differentiate between public and private (which is a big improvement for a person like me). We analyzed the "inner structure" or more exactly the "formula" of a demo game given to us. It was difficult but also challenging :)
Finally, we discussed the tests. Since we will be doing this semester using a block system, it means that we will have our mid-term test and final test in a VERY VERY VERY short time. And guess what: March 4th!! That's like.. 16 days from today! That is the date when we are supposed to submit our project (in this case, a game) for our final test. For now, I can only pray that I will be able to do it well :) Hopefully that won't be a problem because I am willing to read and try to understand it deeper in my own speed. Besides, I have a great partner who is very cooperative. Plus, most of my classmates are always helpful :) So, please bless us all dear God, so that we can give what the lecturer wants and "conquer" this subject successfully ^^b
So, I guess that's all for today. I'll be seeing you again tomorrow! See you and God bless :)
